WE’RE ALL IN NEED OF A LITTLE PRETTY

As I write this, I’m sitting in my living room with my beloved ritual cup of coffee on a rainy autumn morning when the news of what is happening in our communities, our country and globally is so bleak. But as I look around the home I’ve created and have raised my family in, I find beauty and joy in abundance.

While certainly my family and friends are the true treasures in my life, I do admit to coveting all the little things I’ve collected over the years – some during my own childhood and adult years, others passed down from my parents, crafted by my kids or given to me by friends. All are thoughtfully placed around my home where I can capture a bit of joy from them every day. They each hold a memory of a place or a person or a moment in my life. Some might consider all these things clutter or stuff, but I count them as my treasures.

While I can’t envisage that the things I make can have the same level of meaning in someone’s home, should you be looking to add something pretty as a gift for someone you care about, I hope you’ll consider something I make here at Pretty Flours.

I’d love to see you at one of my Holiday events:

I’m grateful to each of them and hope you will support your community’s small businesses by, whenever possible, shopping locally wherever you live.

A new design always begins with a drawing, or a painting. Or several of both. A few weeks ago, when I began playing with design ideas for a 2021 Holiday print, I created numerous watercolor sketches in a sketchbook I keep for surface designs.
